On March 2, 2009, the Kenya National Examinations Council [KNEC] began enforcing its policy on the replacement of certificates for those applicants who took KNEC examinations beginning in 1981.

Knec, however, no longer issues duplicate certificates. Its output is results confirmation, which stands in for the lost certificates.

Previously, Knec permitted certificates to be replaced manually. However, the examiner has recently shifted the entire procedure of replacing certificates online.
